Volunteer Spotlight: Karis Findlan
Karis
Findlan started as a volunteer at Discovery with Fulton last year and quickly
became one of the 'regulars', coming almost every session for the entire
year. The Grade Captains (volunteers who lead each classroom) loved
having her in class, as she brought a high level of energy and was a consistent
source of dependability. The students loved having her in class due to
her easy going manner, patience, and genuine interest in their lives. And
she did all this while working full time and getting her MBA at night!
This year, she answered the call for help and stepped up as the co-Team
Coordinator at Discovery with Fulton - according to her co-TC Saya Hillman,
"Karis has gone above and beyond, and made my job so much easier and
enjoyable!" She oversaw three volunteers design and order the
Discovery T-shirt, and coordinated Fulton's 2nd Annual Coat Drive. She
does everything enthusiastically, even the less glamorous, like sitting in a
hot storage locker for two hours, sorting through old supplies and organizing
new ones, in order to make the Grade Captains' job easier.
Karis has been a wonderful partner and has helped Fulton become an even more
enjoyable experience for administration, students and volunteers alike.
Join Karis at Discovery with Fulton Saturdays this winter and spring. Our next
project date will be January 14.
