How Do You Become a Chicago Cares Volunteer?

Chicago Cares has created more than 275,000 opportunities for Chicagoans to give back to their community since 1991. Now you can join us we meet the city's most pressing needs through volunteering! Simply complete the online orientation, submit your volunteer profile and review the 200 service projects we offer every month. Once you are a registered volunteer, you'll be able to always find out about the latest projects through our monthly print and e-calendar and our weekly Hot Projects e-mail that notifies you of projects that need your help the most.

Please note: This orientation is not for corporations or groups interested in volunteer projects. Contact development@chicagocares.org if you would like Chicago Cares to create a tailored volunteer program for your employees or group.

Getting started is easy!

1. Complete our online orientation, it takes just a few minutes.
2. Fill out and submit your new volunteer profile.
3. Set up a username and password.
4. Sign up for your first project!  After the online orientation, you will be given a few choices of projects that are perfect for new volunteers, you can register for one of these projects once you submit your profile - or you can choose a project from any we offer on the online e-calendar.
5. Receive a confirmation and welcome e-mail from Chicago Cares.  You will get an immediate confirmation e-mail from us letting you know your information was successfully submitted.  Then, in a few days, we will send you a new volunteer welcome e-mail that has tips and tools for you to have a successful volunteer experience.

The total process should take you less than ten minutes and you will be on your way to making a real impact in the community. Chicago Cares knows you care about making a difference.
