Leadership

Volunteer Leaders are an integral part of the Chicago Cares service model. You make it possible for us to launch new programs and implement existing projects, all while ensuring that every volunteer experience is fun, well-managed and meaningful. Our volunteer leaders help inspire and guide more than 34,000 Chicago Cares volunteers every year, leaving a lasting impact on our community.

Develop Your Skills

Volunteer Leaders are responsible, trustworthy, flexible, creative, caring and passionate people. Through your Chicago Cares leadership experience, you will gain experience in project management and communication.

Expand Your Network

As a leader, you will have the opportunity to interact with many different people throughout the city of Chicago and beyond. Leaders in ongoing programs build close relationships with the sites they serve. Those who participate in more flexible leader opportunities will have the chance to interact with employees from our corporate partners at their single day service projects.

Follow Your Passion

Volunteer Leaders choose projects that interest them. Whether you want to get your hands dirty in a community garden, help children improve their literacy skills, provide job skills training to people who are homeless or throw a birthday party for a senior living in isolation; Chicago Cares has a way to move your passion into action. All of our projects and sites are vetted by Chicago Cares staff members. No projects involve administrative tasks, walks, runs or fundraising.

Training and Support

You will receive comprehensive training and access to leadership resources. Our Volunteer and Leader Services team will work with you to find a project that fits your schedule and your strengths. We'll stay in close contact to make sure that you have all the tools you need to run a successful project.
