Student Support Projects

For 20 years Chicago Cares has been mobilizing volunteers to help meet the needs of our community. While Chicago Public Schools are closed, Chicago Cares volunteers can help supervise activities for children at designated libraries, parks and other public facilities across the city by serving directly through one of these community organizations. As a member of Chicago Cares, you can sign up online through Chicago Cares website at our special calendar of opportunities or search for projects on our calendar with the designation of Student Support. Unlike our regularly occurring calendar programs, Student Support programs will be run directly through our partner site and may not have a Chicago Cares volunteer leader on site to help facilitate your service; so come prepared to be patient and understanding as organizations find their footing.

As many of you know, Chicago Cares offers ongoing Children’s Programming at eight school sites, those programs will be delayed until classes resume. In the meantime, we are extending hours and adding projects at many of our non-profit community partner programs serving kids and hope you will join us there.

Finally, if you are a trained Chicago Cares volunteer leader or AmeriCorps Alumni and you would like to offer your services at a library, park or other site as a volunteer leader please contact Volunteer Coordinator, Maura York, and she can help you find a project under Student Support where you can be of assistance and connect you directly to the partner park or library.
