Manager, Special Events | Code: SEMNGR18

The Manager, Special Events serves as the project manager for all of Chicago Cares’ special events and is responsible for the successful planning and execution of events. Chicago Cares hosts several large-scale events throughout the year to generate revenue, mobilize volunteers, and build brand awareness. Events include, but are not limited to the following: MLK Day of Service (January), State of Volunteerism Address (April), Serve-a-thon (June), Find Your Cause (October), Cheers to our Volunteers (November), as well as additional events that may be added over time.

Manager, Capacity Building & Advisory Services | Code: CBASMNGR18

The Capacity Building & Advisory Services Manager facilitates the development, management and leadership of innovative capacity building and advisory services that align with the strategic priorities of Chicago Cares and meet the needs of our community, non-profit, corporate and volunteer partners. This position will be designing, and facilitating curriculum around volunteer and civic engagement. To be successful in this role, you should have strong facilitation skills and be familiar with various educational techniques for different roles and skill sets. The Manager will also play a key role in Chicago Cares volunteer engagement work around young people and the significant adults in their lives. By working in concert with key partner organizations this role will support young people in civically engaging, non-profits in designing meaningful service learning programming and young people informed and driven programs that will empower and inspire the next generation of volunteers and community leaders in our city and beyond. The Manager will also be responsible for training, coaching, and resourcing nonprofit partners around engaging young people and will act as a resident young person engagement expert for Chicago Cares both internally and externally.

Director, Volunteer Engagement | Code: VEDIRECT18

With a focus on impact, the Director of Volunteer Engagement will be a thought partner with the senior leadership team at Chicago Cares as they continue to define and refine the organization’s strategic direction. The Director will be willing to take risks and creatively push the boundaries of traditional volunteer service projects to meet our city’s and our neighborhood’s needs. The Director will be experienced in program strategy and be bold in support of Chicago Cares’ strategic goals for the next three to five years. The Director will display curiosity, value learning and accountability in practice, listen deeply, motivate and influence others, and move ideas to intentional, strategic action. The Director will be a leader with strong staff cultivation experience and a track record of successfully building and leading high-performing teams. The Director will be a coach and facilitator, guiding the Volunteer Engagement team through change, continued growth, and purposeful evolution. The Director will possess the ability to inspire a staff with a diverse skill set towards common goals, applying innovative management practices to ensure efficient day-to-day operations as well as meaningful movement toward our strategic goals.
