DescriptionAdult literacy tutoring for those who need assistance with ESL (English as a second language) and basic reading / basic math.
Tutor individuals or small groups under the direction and support of the professional staff. Work with staff to meet adult learners' literacy needs. Carry out tutoring plans catered to the needs of learners. Report tutoring hours and learners' progress, successes and problems of learners.
Must be 18 or over. Education equivalent to graduation from high school required. Good English speaking and reading skills. Completion of 12 hour basic training workshop.
As a volunteer, you would be educating and supporting members of the community as they determine their own path of growth and development through access of diverse programs and services for individuals, families and groups. Volunteers would help students help themselves and others access good quality education, healthcare, affordable housing and realize their hopes for a better life.
We all have to start somewhere. An education is invaluable when it comes to getting ahead in life, and being a slef-sufficient and successful member of society.

- Groups (volunteers who come in a group)
- New Volunteers (people who have never volunteered before)
- Committed Volunteers (people who can come on a regular basis)
- Skilled Volunteers (volunteers with a sepcific skill set)
- Older Volunteers (volunteers aged 55 and older)
Requirements volunteers must complete to serve
- Training Meeting >2 hours
- Other - a second language is welcomed! We have a great need for Spanish and Arabic speaking tutors.
