Real Talk at Grace House

Volunteers will participate in a discussion with residents at Grace House—an organization that provides interim housing and services for recently incarcerated women. The volunteer leader picks a discussion topic that touches on the subject of job policies and economic empowerment, and together volunteers and residents engage in conversation as a way to foster self-awareness, take ownership of opinions, and facilitate co-learning. Volunteers expand their knowledge about job access and economic empowerment as they partner with an organization that equips individuals to succeed in their community as they transition to their next home. Chicago Cares’ volunteer projects are opportunities to connect with our neighbors, challenge our assumptions, change how we think and feel about our city, and inspire action – all while making a tangible, positive impact through service.
