LYDIA News Crew

Explore current events with teenagers who have been separated from their families to receive therapeutic care. Volunteers will join boys and girls ages 13 to 17 in reading news articles and discussing relevant issues. Your participation not only gives the teen residents important one-on-one attention, but also provides an opportunity for them to practice reading comprehension and presentation and discussion skills.

  • Easy El access: Blue Line

  • Easy parking

Partner: LYDIA is a group home for children and serves as an alternative to state-run foster care and family assistance agencies. The organization’s mission is to strengthen families to care for children and to care for children when families cannot. LYDIA has been a Chicago Cares partner since 2011 for this project, one of multiple Chicago Cares programs at this site.
