Job Coaching at Open Door Shelter

Help provide youth residing in interim housing with tools they need to secure employment. You’ll work with the residents on activities that will prepare them to find and apply for jobs and also teach interview skills and appropriate on-the-job behavior. By doing so, you’ll give the youth practice and necessary skills they need to find a job and ultimately achieve self-sufficiency.
  • Job training is mandatory for residents.

  • The volunteer leader plans and brings all necessary materials for the activities.

  • Easy El access: Blue Line

Partner: Open Door Shelter, a program of The Night Ministry, is a 120-day interim-housing program dedicated to serving young adults (ages 14 to 20), many of whom have been exposed to serious life circumstances and may have children of their own with them. Open Door Shelter has been a Chicago Cares partner since 2007 for this project, one of multiple Chicago Cares programs at this site.
