Volunteers Connect on Job Insecurity: Week 2 Deepening Knowledge
For many of us, the COVID-19 pandemic is disrupting our way of life. The best thing we can do right now is physically isolate ourselves, but let’s not confuse that with social isolation. Chicago Cares is committed to helping us expand our definition of what it means to serve, to connect, and to support one another. After all, this health crisis has revealed the significant fault lines in our policies and how much more we need to be doing to support our neighbors.
That’s why Chicago Cares is proud to launch our second installment of Volunteers Connect, a free, virtual program to keep Chicagoans connected and civically engaged during these challenging times. This time, our Volunteers Connect theme will be job insecurity – a timely issue facing many of our neighbors. There will be a series of three digital opportunities.
By joining the second opportunity, Chicago Cares invites you to learn how to deepen knowledge about why and how job insecurity persists in so many neighborhoods.
We offer two sessions of the second installment, Deepening Knowledge, taking place on these dates: Tuesday, May 26th and Wednesday, May 27th. Sign up below for one of these two sessions!
Let’s use this exceptional time to build empathy even when we cannot always connect in person – by shifting the conversations we are having, by learning our neighbors’ stories, by educating ourselves on the issues we face, and by asking ourselves how we will be better advocates when this is all over.
