Referral: The Englewood Job Fair and Employment Resource Fair (virtual edition)
The Englewood Job Fair and Employment Resource Fair (virtual edition) will be held on Thursday, May 28th from 12:00 PM to 3:30 PM on the Zoom video conferencing app, and will feature 12-20 employers as well as 8-12 employment and career resource organizations that provide services in training and placement, college, and entrepreneurship. There will be interactive sessions where candidates can meet with individual employer and resource recruiters, and we also plan a presentation session where the employers and resources can present to a large audience.
Volunteers will need to be available solidly from 11:45 am to 3:45 pm on the day of the event (May 28th), and should have their own laptop (with sound and microphone), have a good internet connection, and be able to handle Zoom conferencing (as a participant – these volunteers do not need to run their own Zoom sessions). Volunteers will have one of two positions:
Navigator assistant – These volunteers will be assigned one-on-one to an employer or resource recruiter, and will help the recruiter move from Zoom session to Zoom session and from candidate to candidate using a simple methodology that we have developed.
Zoom operator – These volunteers will help within a specific Zoom interactive or presentation session, helping with things like managing people coming into the meeting, assisting with the session, etc.
Volunteers will receive virtual training between May 25th-May 27th. More details related to training will come after signing up.
The event will serve people who need jobs, need employment and career resources, and/or are looking to change jobs. With unemployment skyrocketing, this event may be able to help a lot of people during this time.
