Ginkgo Organic Gardens

Put your gardening skills to good use as you help maintain a community garden that donates produce to a local food bank. Volunteers will assist with weeding, pruning, and harvesting, as well as preparing produce to be taken to Vital Bridges’ North Side location. With the help of volunteers, the garden is able to supply non-profit organizations with fresh produce they would not be able to afford otherwise.

  • Old/work clothes are recommended and closed-toe shoes are required.

  • Easy El access: Red Line

Partner: Ginkgo Organic Gardens was founded in 1994 by community gardeners as a response to local hunger. The garden produces approximately 1,500 pounds of organic vegetables, herbs, fruit, and flowers each year, which is donated to area non-profit organizations. Ginkgo Organic Gardens has been a Chicago Cares partner since 2003 for this project.
