Senior Breakfast Club at Castleman Apartments
Prepare and serve a hearty breakfast to a group of low-income seniors and afterward join them in a spirited interactive game. By bringing residents together for a warm meal and socialization, you will help build community among seniors who often feel isolated. Your participation also expands the facility’s capacity for improving residents’ overall quality of life.
Partner: The Chicago Housing Authority provides rental housing to more than 50,000 families and individuals, while supporting healthy communities in neighborhoods across the city. The CHA’s Castleman Apartments offers subsidized housing for low-income seniors who live independently. Castleman Apartments has been a Chicago Cares partner since 2000 for this project.
- Castleman is a diverse building with predominantly Korean and African-American residents. A chalkboard is used during Bingo, so all participants can follow the game regardless of language barriers.
