NeighborSpace - Drake Gardens

Take part in tending a peaceful community garden. Volunteers will perform a variety of garden tasks including planting, weeding, watering, and maintaining walkways. Through this work, you will provide area families with a safe and beautiful oasis and inspire neighbors to take ownership of the gardens and participate in future upkeep.

  • Come prepared and dressed to get dirty; old clothes and closed-toe shoes strongly recommended.

  • Easy El access: Brown Line

Partner: Drake Gardens is located in the midst of a dense residential block, and the site used to host a synagogue. The congregation donated the land after knocking down and closing the temple, and it has since been transformed into the community garden that brings neighbors together. Drake Gardens has been a Chicago Cares partner since 2007 for this project.
