MLK Volunteer Mobilization Day at Dyett High School for the Arts

Chicago Cares is celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.! This special project provides an opportunity to learn about and honor the work of Dr. King.
Enrich a student’s life by helping to beautify their school and learning more about their community! Work along with other volunteers to have a lasting impact on the students and faculty of Dyett High School through the completion of facility improvement projects. Volunteers will create mosaics, wall and canvas murals to adorn the school's hallways. Additionally, volunteers should be prepared to share a meal and discuss issues that affect local community members.

  • Easy El access: Green Line

    • Volunteers are asked to wear closed toe shoes and clothes they don't mind getting dirty.

Partner: Located in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago, Dyett High School for the Arts is a public open enrollment arts-focused high school named for American violinist and educator Walter Henri Dyett (1901-1969). The school also includes an innovation lab, which offers training in technology for the Bronzeville/Washington Park community.
