Referral: Corporation for Supportive Housing Speak Up

Description CSH has a program called Speak Up in which they support the leadership and storytelling development of supportive housing residents in order to increase the impact and number of supportive housing advocates in IL. Their program provides training curriculum, advocacy opportunities, and a sense of community for their participants. They utilize volunteer coaches to support the residents in the storytelling. Coaches work with residents on story structure, editing, and practice. Coaches will be able to collaborate with other talented volunteers during in-service trainings
Impact Volunteer Coaches are essential to their program. They would support the growth and development of their Resident participants in becoming strong advocates for supportive housing in IL. Many of the Residents don’t currently value their voice and see how they can be an asset to the supportive housing sector that has provided them with stability. The coaches will help the Residents become an asset in relation to utilizing their voice and sharing their powerful stories of life transformation through supportive housing.
Location The Residents and Coaches decide their own meeting scheduled. We believe the volunteer coaches will meet with the Residents between 1-5 hours a month based on their preferred schedule.
