Service Plus: Food Insecurity
Service Plus is a program model Chicago Cares is piloting that pairs education about the fundamentals of an issue or geographic area with impactful related service for a group of committed volunteers over multiple sessions.
For this Service Plus program, we'll provide a deeper dive on food insecurity and ways to address it through civic engagement. This program will feature a total of four sessions in which volunteers will learn the local scope and underlying causes of food insecurity, get an overview of organizations that are working on solutions, and receive a customized recommendation on how they can turn their knowledge into action:
- Session I (Education and Service): Hunger Relief
Saturday, December 1, 9am to 1pm
Session II (Education): The Issues Thursday, December 13, 6:30pm to 8:30pm
Session III (Education and Service): The Solutions Saturday, January 5, 9am to 1pm
Session VI (Education): Knowledge Into Action Thursday, January 17, 6:30pm to 8:30pm
As this Service Plus program is a new model Chicago Cares is testing, we are seeking flexible but committed volunteers:
